Kroger has stopped giving change on cash transactions, due to the current U.S. coin shortage. Instead the grocer is opting to convert the change into loyalty card discount credits and giving customers a "round up" for charity option. Interesting way to solve the change issue. Allow Charity donations is a nice approach and adding the balance to a loyalty card helps keeps shopper tied to Kroger. Not sure how lower income shopper will feel however
